Raymarine is a leading manufacturer of marine electronics and develops a very comprehensive range of electronic equipment for the recreational boating and light commercial marine markets. PSC supplies a display window solution for the high resolution LCD/TFT multifunction Navigation Display.

Most important requirements

Used in full daylight and exposed to moist and seawater, daylight readability and resistance to salt-water are the most important customer requirements. In addition high impact resistant is important to avoid breakage. Due to the high resolution colour LCD display a flawless optical quality of the surface is of course a must too.

Solution

A solution based on clear Solaris™ S optical grade acrylics with a Marine AR surface treatment was chosen. The material is machined into the exact size and geometries to fit the cabinet of the navigation equipment.

In addition the display provide full daylight readability from all angles as the reflection of disturbing light is reduced to 1% The solid window solution and tight tolerance construction eliminates risk of condensation.
